I'm going to give you the single most effective thing you can do for your Instagram growth right now. It costs nothing. It takes 5 minutes a day. Almost nobody does it consistently.
Reply to every comment. Every single one. Within the first hour of it being posted if possible.
Here's why this works at a technical level: Instagram's algorithm measures something called Engagement Rate — the ratio of interactions to followers. Comments are the highest-value interaction in the algorithm's eyes. When you reply to a comment, you create a second comment on your post, doubling the comment count. The person you replied to often comes back to reply to you — creating a third and fourth comment. The algorithm sees a post generating ongoing conversation and starts showing it to more people.
But here's the thing people miss: replying to comments is also the most human thing you can do on social media.
Someone took 20 seconds out of their day to type something to you. If you ignore it, you're training them never to bother again. If you respond — genuinely, not with a generic emoji — you're building a relationship. And relationships build brands faster than any algorithm trick.
The accounts with the most loyal audiences aren't always the biggest. They're the ones where following feels like being part of something. That starts with the founder showing up in the comments.
